This is a medium to high effort filtering and encoding for All Works Maid. slow.pics compare:https://slow.pics/c/HvWkuAS1
This anime is descalable in more than half of the scenes, but in many scenes it's not. It would be a tremendous work to try to pick out the scenes where it is not descalable. In addition, the lineart is not smooth even after descaling, so there is no point descaling anyway. Instead, we use vsTAAmbk.TAAmbk to perform a strong AA, protected by a gaussian based protection and a custom mask made with vsmasktools.FreyChen.
This anime is not that demanding, and the CR source is very good without authoring noise, but it has the typical CR dithering presenting. We use oxidctf.DCTFilter and a very light DFTTest pre-AA to remove some of the CR dithering. And then post-AA, we apply a deband via vsdehalo.pfdeband, and stabilise the video via a custom MVTools at low thsad before sending the video to the encoder.
We use 5fish/SVT-AV1 v2.3.261005 at --crf 24.40 for this encode, with the exception of episode 04 which has the dance between the best couple in this anime where we use --crf 21.40 instead. Parameters include a mini standard --lineart-psy-bias 3 --texture-psy-bias 3 with increased DLF strength with --dlf-bias-max-dlf 12,2 --dlf-bias-min-dlf 6,0. We applied a rather coarse noise table on top of the encode.
Thanks to all the people creating the tools, plugins and vsfunc's that make this possible, and thanks to everyone in the community for teaching me, pointing out issues, and giving me advice.
